Formstack for Requesting Graduate Assistantships

This form should be completed by the staff/faculty member submitting the request. For campus employment to be considered a Graduate Assistantship, the following criteria must be met:

•             The student must be admitted to a qualified graduate degree program

•             The minimum stipend for graduate assistantship duties is the state mandated minimum wage.

•             Full time graduate students may be employed for a maximum 0.50 FTE (20 hours per week)

•             Part time graduate students may be employed for a max 0.25 FTE (10 hours per week)

•             Tuition waivers applied in addition to the assistantship may not exceed the number of credit hours the student is enrolled.

•             The Graduate Assistantship must be approved by the student’s graduate program coordinator and the Director of Graduate Studies or their designee.

•             Graduate Students in Accelerated Programs (AP) are not eligible for Graduate Assistantships.

When hiring the student, the position should be listed as the provide GA Type provided by Graduate Studies and the student is approved for a part time/full time graduate assistantship up to [0/20 hours per week (details above).

Graduate Students receiving Graduate Assistantships should also receive tuition waivers. Please work with the graduate program to establish the number of tuition waivers available to the student during the student’s assistantship.
